KTRU Tuesdays: World’s Tallest Woman

This December 10, 1981 edition of “To the Point” seems to be veer more into the fantastic, though David Parsons‘ account is very real.

As in the photograph attached to the video, Parsons would do face casts and body casts. A family commissioned him to do a face cast for a woman, who by his account would be the world’s tallest woman ever. She stood 8 feet 9 1/2  inches. The height of the official tallest woman, who passed in 1982, is 8 feet 1 3/4 inches.

This story includes the U.S. Army, the Surgeon General, and why she became so tall. It’s a must listen.
