The KTRU radio show “Up in the Air” is always a great resource for Houston history. On September 8, 1977, Ray Hill spoke with Stan Barber about the gay and lesbian community in Houston. More specifically, they discussed the Gay Political Caucus, fighting unconstitutional legislation, gay and lesbian job security, Mayor Fred Hofheinz, acceptance of the gay and lesbian community, dispelling gay and lesbian stereotypes, and religion and homosexuality.
This is a snippet from the end of the interview where Hill discusses his life in Houston interacting with people in his neighborhood. Sadly, the recording ends abruptly.
