A Speedomax W recorder by Leeds and Northrup Co.
According to Wikipedia, “a chart recorder is an electromechanical device that records an electrical or mechanical input trend onto a piece of paper (the chart).” This one was purchased for the Rice Chemistry Department in the mid 1960s. Rice Lab Manager Carter Kittrell recalls this was the “first (and most expensive) purchase by Phil Brooks when he began research in the Chemistry Department at Rice University. Note the low number on the property tag.”
